Police: Bathroom cameras may have filmed hundreds

NEWARK, Del. (AP) — State officials say hundreds of women may have been secretly videotaped from cameras found hidden in bathrooms at the University of Delaware.

On Friday, authorities announced the July 1 arrest of a University of Delaware graduate student after cameras were found in women's restrooms on campus. They said 38-year-old Javier Mendiola-Soto, a doctoral student from Mexico, has been charged with 21 counts of felony violation of privacy was being held in Wilmington. A lawyer for the suspect could not immediately be located.

Police told The News Journal (http://delonline.us/1k2vzGE ) there may have been hundreds of victims.

Skip Homiak, the university's director of campus and public safety, says anyone who thinks they may have been a victim may contact investigators.
