LONDON, Jun 13, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- The late Princess Margaret's jewels are expected to bring in 3 million pounds ($5.5 million) at a London auction, it was reported Tuesday.
The sister of Britain's Queen Elizabeth died in 2002 following a stroke.
Some of the proceeds from the sale at Christie's auction will go to the Princess Margaret Fund at the Stroke Association, Sky News said.
Among the items hitting the block is the tiara Margaret wore to her wedding, which is estimated to be worth between 200 thousand pounds ($367 thousand) and 300 thousand pounds ($550 thousand).
Her ex-husband, Lord Snowdon, is reportedly unhappy about some of the items scheduled to be auctioned, Sky News said.
Snowdon was married to the Princess between 1960 and 1978. He wrote to Christie's questioning whether his children had the right to sell the pieces.
