FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) — Representatives of the American Legion are in Fort Collins this week to help veterans get health care.
American Legion volunteers and Veterans Affairs staffers are operating a crisis center at the American Legion Post 4 through Friday. On Tuesday, the center will be staffed from noon to 8 p.m.
Hundreds of veterans and their supporters packed a meeting at the hall on Monday night. The Coloradoan (http://noconow.co/1mRzp4n) reported that some offered encouragement to other veterans waiting for help while some praised the department.
A Veterans Affairs Department internal investigation found that employees at the VA medical clinic in Fort Collins were instructed to falsify records to make it appear that patients were getting appointments close to the day requested.
