SUN VALLEY, Nev. (AP) — Troopers say a Sun Valley man who drove his scooter into the path of an SUV the night of Fourth of July has succumbed to his injuries.

Nevada Highway Patrol officials say 58-year-old Jose Desantiago died after the crash that happened about 9:30 p.m. Friday in front of a Dollar General store.

Investigators say a 26-year-old woman was driving her SUV on Sun Valley Boulevard when Desantiago tried to cross the road and was hit.

Authorities say he was thrown off the moped.

Troopers say it doesn't appear that drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash, which is still under investigation.
