DELTA, Utah (AP) — Authorities say a man was struck and killed by a car in an accident at a demolition derby in Utah.
Millard County sheriff's deputies say 50-year-old Robert Steele of Nephi (nee-fie) was serving as a derby official when the accident occurred during a heat Friday night in Delta.
Investigators say one of the cars in the derby was struck by another and went over a dirt berm and hit Steele. He was taken to Delta Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The accident is under investigation.
Multiple drivers who won money at the event told KSL they were donating it to Steele's family.
