FARMINGTON, Utah (AP) — A Layton man accused of sending nude pictures of his estranged wife to her acquaintances is headed to trial after plea deal negotiations were scrapped.
The Standard Examiner of Ogden reports (http://bit.ly/1iSFNco ) that a judge on Tuesday set a two-day trial for Nov. 19-20 for Shon C. Handrahan.
Authorities say the 30-year-old Handrahan sent nude and obscene pictures of his then-wife to her friends in 2012. Police also say he sent threatening texts to his wife. The couple is now divorced.
Handrahan is charged with distribution of pornographic material and electronic communication harassment.
The case helped lead Utah lawmakers to pass a revenge porn bill that makes it a misdemeanor the first time someone shares images without the person's consent and a felony for repeat offenses.
