WILSON, N.C. (AP) — Authorities say two people suffered minor injuries after a fire at a tire plant in Wilson.

Officials with Bridgestone Americas said the fire broke out in the mixing department of its Wilson plant around 2:40 p.m. Saturday.

Workers at the plant started fighting the blaze until firefighters arrived.

The company says one of its employees and an emergency worker suffered minor injuries and were treated and released from the hospital.

Bridgestone Americas officials say damage was confined to the mixing area and they hope to determine the cause of the fire and begin repairs soon. Work in the rest of the plant was able to continue.
