AUBURN, Ala. (AP) — Auburn University's Board of Trustees elected businessman Jimmy Rane as president pro tempore of the body.

The vote on Friday gives Rane a second term in the position, according to the Opelika-Auburn News (http://bit.ly/UVg8ok ). Rane is the chief executive officer of Great Southern Wood Preserving in Abbeville and has served on the board since 1999.

Charles McCrary was nominated as vice president pro tempore. McCrary recently retired as chief executive at Alabama Power Company.

The board meets again in the fall.
