SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A portable federal courthouse is parked at the Rainbow Family gathering in a national forest about 60 miles east of South Lake City. A spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney's office tells KSL-TV that it's more efficient to bring the courthouse to the counterculture gathering. The court has been hearing mostly minor citations, such as drug possession.

NEPHI, Utah (AP) — A group of Boy Scouts helped lift an overturned SUV off a 60-year-old woman injured in a crash in Juab County earlier this week. Despite the efforts of the scouts, the woman later died. Their troop leader said emergency responders allowed five of the teens to help lift the vehicle off the ground, so the woman could be pulled out.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Salt Lake City police say an officer who shot a dog dead while searching for a missing child felt the animal was a threat. Chief Chris Burbank identified the officer as Brett Olsen, who in 2007 helped take down a gunman who killed five bystanders at Salt Lake City's Trolley Square Mall. The dog's owner says he wants Olsen fired.

SANDY, Utah (AP) — Wildlife officers have captured a mountain lion that startled shoppers by strolling near the Jordan Commons shopping center in Sandy this morning. Police found the cat outside a steakhouse while some shoppers were taking pictures. Wildlife officers shot the mountain lion with a tranquilizer and carted it away.
