SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Republican state Sen. Evan Vickers has fended off a primary challenge from former lawmaker Casey Andersen. Vickers narrowly avoided being booted out of the southern Utah race at a nominating convention earlier this year. The race was one of the most watched among seven contested legislative races in the primary. Voter turnout was light with so few races up for grabs.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — About 9.7 million passengers flew out of Salt Lake City International Airport last year. Numbers released yesterday by the FAA show the 2013 figures climbed by a little less than 1 percent. The data do not include travelers who were simply transferring at the airport.
PROVO, Utah (AP) — Police have arrested two brothers from Orem and a third man accused of putting on fake mustaches and beards before robbing banks. The brothers are accused of a robbery May 2 at the AM Bank in Lindon, while the other man is accused of joining them for the holdup of an AM Bank branch in Provo on June 17.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah quarterback Travis Wilson has been cleared to play after a concussion last season revealed a pre-existing medical condition. Wilson had previously been cleared to take part in spring football practice, but he was limited to non-contact drills as a precautionary measure. The school says that a CT scan last week showed that the previous trauma to an intracranial artery has remained stable since February.
