MINDEN, Nev. (AP) — Authorities are planning an autopsy on human bones that an inmate work crew found in a remote, wooded area east of Spooner Lake.
Douglas County sheriff's officials announced Monday that they'd launched a death investigation after remains were found in the Kings Canyon area north of Highway 50, near the top of Spooner Summit.
The inmates had been clearing brush in the area.
The remains were being taken to the Washoe County coroner's office for an autopsy. An identity and cause of death were unclear.
