RENO, Nev. (AP) — Reno police continue to investigate a fatal accident that claimed the life of a 77-year-old bicyclist north of the city on North Virginia Street.
Police say a Reno woman driving a white SUV hit and killed Patrick Gavin of Reno while he was riding a bicycle about 8:15 p.m. Friday just north of Golden Valley Road.
Paramedics preformed extensive life-saving efforts. But police told KTVN-TV (http://tinyurl.com/qz39yoy) the victim died at the scene.
Investigators said Monday the driver was not injured and she is cooperating with detectives.
Police say neither speed nor alcohol appear to have played a role in the crash. The investigation caused traffic to be rerouted for several hours Friday night.
Sgt. Joe Robinson said Monday the department's Major Investigation Team is still investigating the incident.
