CHERRY HILL, N.J. (AP) — A building that was being demolished in southern New Jersey has collapsed and killed a worker.
The collapse occurred Friday afternoon at the site of a former Blockbuster video rental store in Cherry Hill, a Philadelphia suburb.
Cherry Hill Fire Director Patrick Kelly says the building was almost fully demolished already but the last section of it fell on top of the worker. He says the worker likely died instantly.
A person operating a backhoe and another worker were uninjured.
Kelly says the contractor had all the necessary permits to demolish the building. The identity of the contractor hasn't been disclosed.
