LOS ANGELES (AP) — A former fourth-grade teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for the sexual abuse of three students and a female relative.
A district attorney's statement says 58-year-old Robert Pimentel received the sentence Thursday.
Last month, Pimentel pleaded no contest to three felony counts of lewd acts on a child and continuous sexual abuse involving a female relative. The allegations of student abuse dated from the 2011-2012 school year, the relative abuse from 2002 to 2004.
He had also been ordered to trial on 10 more counts that were dropped under a plea agreement.
Pimentel had worked for the district since 1974 and he had been a teacher at George De La Torre Jr. Elementary School when the allegations arose.
