WAUKEGAN, Ill. (AP) — A former suburban Chicago high school teacher who admitted to having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a male student last fall has been sentenced to 30 months of probation after pleading guilty to one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
Thirty-year-old Amber Kraus of Mundelein was ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of her life as part of a plea deal in which prosecutors agreed to drop a felony charge of criminal sexual assault.
During Thursday's sentencing hearing in Lake County, the former teacher at Grant High School in Fox Lake was told by a judge that while on probation she is forbidden from having any contact with the 16-year-old victim, his family, the high school or any minors under the age of 17.
