TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) — The fundraising organizer for the Fourth of July fireworks show in Twin Falls says the display will only be about 12 minutes long this year due to a lack of donations.
Peggy Kidd says the display is usually twice that long.
She tells The Times-News (http://bit.ly/1lCidRb) that it costs about $1,000 per minute for the fireworks display.
About 5,000 people watch the display from the College of Southern Idaho every year.
Kidd says that at least another 5,000 watch from parking lots of nearby shopping centers.
Twin Falls residents have donated about $1,400 through water bill donations.
About $9,000 is usually raised from a fireworks stand.
Kidd says Independent Healthcare Providers of Idaho has donated about $1,200 this year, down from about $8,000 last year.
