LAS VEGAS (AP) — A 34-year-old man awaits extradition to Minnesota after he was sentenced in Las Vegas to five years' probation for keeping his ex-girlfriend against her will at a motel in the Nevada resort city of Mesquite.

Deputy Public Defender Carli Kierny said Tuesday that Jason Greniger hopes to serve his probation in his home state, where he was sought on a warrant in a felony child punishment case.

Greniger was sentenced June 9 in Las Vegas after pleading guilty in April to felony coercion stemming from his January arrest.

Prosecutors agreed to drop a kidnapping count that could have gotten Greniger up to 15 years in prison.

Police say Sheena Herschbach accused Greniger of using physical violence to keep her at the motel 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas.
