KUNA, Idaho (AP) — A giant pet rabbit found in a garbage can near Kuna Middle School in southwestern Idaho has been rescued and is up for adoption.
The Ada County Sheriff's Office says two 12-year-old girls walking by on Monday afternoon heard a noise coming from the garbage can and stopped to investigate.
Police say the girls looked inside and saw the rabbit, and then ran to a nearby police station to tell officers.
Ada County Sheriff's Office Det. Marc Bowman says the rabbit was panting and drank water out of his hand.
Police say it's not clear how the rabbit got inside the garbage can.
Authorities took the rabbit to the Idaho Human Society. If no owner comes forward in the next several days, it will be available for adoption.
