IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — A 20-year-old Idaho Falls man has been sentenced to five to 10 years in prison in the death of his girlfriend's 16-month-old daughter.
District Judge Joel Tingey sentenced Antonio Marcos Bautista on Monday to five years determinate and five years indeterminate.
Bautista entered an Alford plea in April to a charge of felony injury to a child. Under the plea, Bautista didn't admit guilt but acknowledged there was enough evidence for prosecutors to gain a conviction.
Bautista was initially charged with first-degree murder in the December 2012 death of Esmiee Quezada. Doctors say Esmiee died of a skull fracture caused by blunt force trauma.
