SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) — A video that circulated on the Web and showed an Orange County teenage boy getting punched, kicked and knocked unconscious has resulted in charges against two people, authorities said Wednesday.

The 16-year-old victim suffered a badly broken nose, concussion, cuts and bruises during the fight at an elementary school field, said Farrah Emami, a spokeswoman for the Orange County district attorney's office.

One of the defendants is a minor whose name was withheld. The other is 18-year-old Robert Ayala. Both attend Tesoro High School in Ladera Ranch and were taken into custody May 21.

Ayala has pleaded not guilty to charges of felony aggravated assault and battery. He was being held on $50,000 bail.

The video had gotten attention on the Internet before investigators saw it and filed the charges, sheriff's spokesman Jeff Hallock said.

"The video got out and has gone viral over the last couple of weeks," Hallock said.

The victim, whose name was also withheld because of his age, was hospitalized after the assault and is recovering, according to Emami.
