LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities say a 36-year-old Las Vegas man who told police his girlfriend shot herself is jailed pending an initial court appearance on an attempted murder charge.
Roberto Ramirez was arrested after calling police about 6 a.m. Sunday to a northwest Las Vegas home where officers found 27-year-old Jessica Smalls in a bedroom with a gunshot wound near her chin.
KLAS-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1uas9T7 ) that Ramirez was found outside the home with blood on his hands and arms.
Police say he told investigators at first that he was downstairs when Smalls shot herself, then changed his account to say he accidentally shot her during an argument.
