backslash () — WASHINGTON (AP) — The only U.S. soldier being held in Afghanistan is now a free man after a prisoner exchange with the Taliban. Sgt. Today in the White House Rose Garden, Obama, flanked by Bergdahl's parents, said while Bergdahl was gone, "he was never forgotten."

VERO BEACH, Fla. (AP) — U.S. officials have identified the man who launched a suicide bombing against Syrian government troops as Moner Mohammad Abu-Salha of Florida, but are saying little else. It is known he grew up in central Florida and attended several colleges in the state. Records show a person with that name lived with his family in a gated community outside Vero Beach.

PHOENIX (AP) — Jodi Arias' defense team wants the death penalty removed as a sentencing option. But an Arizona judge denied the motion saying the lawyers showed no evidence that banning a defense aide from making jail visits last March prejudiced the case. Arias was convicted of first-degree murder last year in the 2008 killing of her lover, but jurors couldn't decide on a sentence.

UNDATED (AP) — College football and basketball players will be paid for the use of their likenesses in NCAA branded videogames. The deal doesn't include the NCAA. The case against the NCAA is set for trial early next year.
