WEST JORDAN, Utah (AP) — A playground in West Jordan named after a 6-year-old girl who was kidnapped and killed in 2012 is scheduled to open Friday afternoon.
The half-million dollar Sierra Newbold Playground includes more than 13,000 square feet at Ron Wood Park.
The playground features rubberized surfaces that accommodate children in wheelchairs, along with slides and swings.
Friday's opening will include speeches from Mayor Kim Rolfe and Newbold's mother, Kathy Newbold, among others.
A police training obstacle course will be available for children to try.
The opening in scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m.
