HOUMA, La. (AP) — Terrebonne Parish deputies say high school teacher and boys track coach has been arrested for allegedly having a sexual encounter with a 16-year-old male student.
Sheriff Jerry Larpenter tells The Courier (http://bit.ly/1kNJu1a ) 37-year-old Derrick Nesby, of New Orleans, was arrested at H.L. Bourgeois High School Wednesday when he returned to pick up his personal property. Nesby was booked with felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile.
The sheriff says Nesby denies the allegations.
Earlier this month, Larpenter says detectives received a complaint regarding allegations of Nesby being involved with one of his students.
He says detectives questioned and released Nesby before obtaining an arrest warrant.
It was unclear whether Nesby has an attorney.
