SPARKS, Nev. (AP) — A 73-year-old Sparks man has been arrested and booked on suspicion of murder three months after police say he shot and killed a man he claimed was trespassing on his property.
Sparks police say they arrested Wayne Paul Burgarello on Tuesday for the February killing of 34-year-old Cody Devine.
He also has been booked on suspicion of attempted murder in the shooting of 29-year-old Janai Wilson.
Police say Burgarello shot the two after he found them sleeping at his vacant property on H Street. Investigators have declined to comment on whether either of the victims was armed.
Police Sgt. Aaron Leary said in a statement Tuesday no other details would be released.
It's not clear if Burgarello has a lawyer. Jail records indicate his initial court appearance hasn't been scheduled.
