Reno police service dog dies after surgery

RENO, Nev. (AP) — A Reno police service dog has died after having emergency surgery to clear an intestinal blockage.

Reno police spokesman Sgt. Joe Lever says the German shepherd had been with the department for three years. His handler was Dan Knox.

Lever says the 5-year-old canine died Sunday.
