(AP) — Nevada is cutting ties with the operator of the state's problem-plagued health insurance exchange and will partner with the federal government for enrollments in the upcoming year. The Silver State Health Insurance Exchange Board says they have lost confidence in Xerox Corp.'s ability to fix myriad problems with Nevada's online web portal, Nevada Health Link, in time for the next open enrollment period that begins Nov. 15.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — A 64-year-old ex-convict from Texas was sentenced to 10 to 25 years in Nevada state prison after pleading guilty to a shooting that sent security guards and patrons scrambling at the Greyhound bus terminal in downtown Las Vegas. James Abney told the judge that he never aimed at anyone, and tried to shoot himself before his arrest. No one was injured.
RENO, Nev. (AP) — A moped collided with a pickup truck at a northwest Reno intersection early today, killing the 24-year-old man on the moped. Police arrested the 21-year-old woman who was driving the pickup truck. Police say she was cooperative during the investigation but subsequently arrested.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Las Vegas minor league hockey team that was left homeless when the season ended says it will take a yearlong hiatus. Las Vegas Wranglers President Billy Johnson says the team was close to finding home ice, but needed more time to seal the deal. Boyd Gaming decided not to renew the team's lease at Orleans Arena.
