LAS VEGAS (AP) — A federal judge in Las Vegas has denied a patent holder's request to halt a performance by a Michael Jackson hologram scheduled for this weekend's Billboard Music Awards. Judge Kent Dawson issued a ruling yesterday saying there wasn't enough evidence to show the hologram would violate the company's patents. The planned hologram wasn't shown in court, but it wasn't clear until the hearing whether rumors of its use during tomorrow's show were true.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities have identified a 25-year-old Henderson man who died after being shot at a posh suite in the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. Clark County coroner's officials identified the victim as Evan Plunkett. Police said shots were fired about 9:20 p.m. Thursday after a fight erupted between Plunkett and three other males during a party in the hotel's Fantasy Tower. Plunkett was taken to University Medical Center and later died.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — A Carson City woman has been arrested for her alleged role in a theft operation targeting professional athletes and sports agents. The attorney general's office says 39-year-old Megan Klein was booked Thursday on charges of identity theft, forgery and theft. The attorney general's office says Klein is charged with defrauding a sports marketing agent and an attorney who wired an accomplice a combined $350,000.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — A man suspected of robbing a bank at Lake Tahoe with a handgun led state troopers and local deputies on a short car and foot chase before he was arrested in Carson City. Troopers say 55-year-old Brent Muir of Carson City allegedly robbed the Plumas Bank in Kings Beach, California about 8:30 a.m. yesterday. A Nevada patrolman first spotted Muir in a 2008 Chevrolet Impala near Sand Harbor.
