DUCHESNE, Utah (AP) — Authorities say an 18-year-old Duchesne High School student has stabbed one of his peers at the school.

The Duchesne County Sheriff's Office said in a statement to the Associated Press the fight began Wednesday about 11 a.m. on the football field before moving to a locker room.

Police say the wounded 17-year-old boy sustained critical injuries. Emergency crews brought him to Uintah Basin Medical Center.

Police say the other student is in custody. They did not give details about the weapon.

Officials temporarily locked down the high school and a nearby elementary school about midday Wednesday.

Students at both buildings have resumed their normal class schedule.
