SPARKS, Nev. (AP) — Police say a Sparks seventh-grader who went on a shooting rampage at his school nearly seven months ago was taking a prescription antidepressant at the time, and had told a psychotherapist that he was teased at school. Twelve-year-old Jose Reyes opened fire Oct. 21 at Sparks Middle School, killing a teacher and wounding two classmates before committing suicide.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — A former housemate of a man accused of killing his dancer girlfriend told a jury the defendant acknowledged choking her until she stopped breathing. Louis Colombo says Jason Griffith told him he also put a plastic shopping bag over Deborah Flores Narvaez' head. Colombo is expected to face tough questioning from defense attorneys about getting immunity for cooperating with prosecutors.
RENO, Nev. (AP) — Nevada Republican lieutenant governor hopefuls Sue Lowden and Mark Hutchison traded jabs over the federal health care law and campaign debt in a feisty televised debate. Lowden deflected criticism of $600,000 in campaign debt, saying she has submitted a repayment plan with the Federal Election Commission. The taped debate aired today on "Nevada Newsmakers."
LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Las Vegas Bowl will be played on Dec. 20, a Saturday, for a third consecutive year. The 23rd annual game will kick off at 12:30 p.m. PST at Sam Boyd Stadium and televised on ABC. The matchup will feature a top Mountain West Conference team against the sixth-place finisher in the Pac-12.
