SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Police in Salt Lake City say they've arrested the Metro Gang Unit's "public enemy No. 1." The Deseret News reports Rodrigo Scott Burquez was arrested on Saturday at a house in West Valley on an outstanding warrant stemming from an armed assault four years ago. Police say they've been looking for him since he violated his probation last year.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A new report says homelessness in Utah fell 10 percent overall last year. But it also shows an increase in the number of people in the state who are chronically homeless. The Deseret News reports 150 people in Salt Lake County were added to the list of chronically homeless in the 2014 survey required by the federal government, That's an increase of 8.8 percent.
SANDY, Utah (AP) — A Kaysville man has been charged with kidnapping and robbery in a bizarre burglary at a home in Sandy. Police say 34-year-old Timothy Ellis made his victim help him find his lost car keys, then expressed remorse and returned some loot before hijacking a woman's car. Police say they tracked him down with a DNA sample on a beer can at the home.
LAS VEGAS (AP) -- The head of the BLM says his agency plans to act through the courts to hold lawbreakers accountable in a dispute about a southern Nevada rancher illegally grazing cattle on public land. BLM chief Neil Kornze said during a National Public Radio interview yesterday that some people broke laws before a roundup of rancher Cliven Bundy's cattle was suspended last month northeast of Las Vegas.
