SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Bureau of Land Management has begun an investigation that could lead to charges against nearly 50 people who rode ATVs on an off-limits trail this weekend in Utah to show their displeasure with the federal government. BLM spokeswoman Megan Crandall says the agency is working to determine who broke the law.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Prosecutors are asking for more time in the case against a Utah truck driver accused of keeping a pair of sex slaves in his semitrailer for months as he travelled the country. Timothy Jay Vafeades appeared in court today in Salt Lake City. He was arrested in Minnesota last November. He could be sentenced to life in prison if convicted.

PROVO, Utah (AP) — A 17-year-old girl is pleading not guilty to a dozen charges stemming from a crime rampage that left a Utah County Sheriff's deputy dead and another deputy injured. Meagan Grunwald appeared in a Provo courtroom this morning. She is being charged as an adult. Prosecutors say her boyfriend, Angel Garcia-Juaregui, shot the deputies, but she participated in the police chase and a carjacking.

PROVO, Utah (AP) — A 19-year-old woman hospitalized for carbon monoxide poisoning is improving after an accident that claimed the lives of two people. A Utah Valley Medical Center spokeswoman tells KSL-TV that Vanessa Batistic of Elsinore has been upgraded to good condition. She was visiting a home in Richfield when the residents were overcome by fumes from a faulty generator.
