FRITCH, Texas (AP) — Emergency officials say a wildfire near a small town in the Texas Panhandle has destroyed some 75 homes. The Texas Department of Public Safety says hundreds of people have evacuated the area near Fritch, some 30 miles northeast of Amarillo. The blazed began yesterday afternoon.

DENVER (AP) — A storm that left heavy snow across parts of Colorado, Wyoming and Nebraska over the weekend is expected to weaken as it heads northeast from the Plains. Today, dozens of snowplows are cleaning up the slush-covered streets of Denver. And in Nebraska, utility officials say some 6,200 homes and businesses are still without power.

BRUSSELS (AP) — Officials say European Union foreign ministers are adding 13 people to their visa ban and asset freeze list over Ukraine, but they're not expected to take tougher measures before the May 25 elections in the east European nation. British Foreign Secretary William Hague said that it's essential to show Moscow the bloc is ready to step up measures further, "depending on Russia's attitude toward the elections" in Ukraine. The EU had already ordered visa bans and asset freezes for 48 people.

GAMBORU, Nigeria (AP) — Residents of a Nigerian border town that was repeatedly attacked by Islamic extremists say they're picking up and moving across the border to Cameroon because they cannot trust Nigeria's military to protect them. An official in the town of Gamboru says last week extremists killed more than 300 people and bombed and burned out shops, homes and vehicles. Meanwhile, a French official says Nigeria's president has agreed to attend a security summit Saturday in Paris to focus on the Islamic extremist network that kidnapped hundreds of school girls last month.

PRETORIA, South Africa (AP) — A psychiatrist for the defense says he believes Olympic runner Oscar Pistorius has an "anxiety disorder." Dr. Merryll Vorster testified today at the double-amputee's murder trial in South Africa. Vorster testified that the amputation of Pistorius' lower legs as a baby and other events in his life contributed to his "increasing stress." The defense argues that Pistorius' feelings of "vulnerability" contributed to his shooting girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp by mistake, fearing she was an intruder.
