DOSWELL, Va. (AP) — Virginia state police say they have found the body of the third person who was on a hot air balloon that crashed in flames Friday night. Police haven't released the victims' names, but family members and the University of Richmond said associate head coach Ginny Doyle and director of basketball operations Natalie Lewis were passengers. Veteran hot air balloon pilot Daniel T. Kirk was at the controls, according to his father.
DENVER (AP) — Parts of Colorado and Wyoming are under a winter storm warning today. Forecasters say a foot or more of snow could fall in some places. Meanwhile, in Los Angeles, officials are warning that hot weather and gusty winds could increase the risk of wildfires.
ORRICK, Mo. AP) — The Missouri town of Orrick is cleaning up after taking a direct hit from an EF2 tornado. That means it had winds between 111 and 135 miles per hour. Last evening's twister ripped up trees and yanked roofs off homes, but no injuries have been reported.
DONETSK, Ukraine (AP) — Voters in eastern Ukraine have lined up at the polls in a twin referendum on sovereignty for two heavily populated industrial regions. The voting took a bloody turn in one town when Ukrainian national guardsmen opened fire on a crowd outside a town hall. An official with the region's insurgents said there were deaths, but it's not known how many. Results of the voting aren't expected until tomorrow.
CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — Venezuelan courts have ordered 11 student protesters to stand trial, but they have freed more than 150 others. Legal officials say the 11 face charges including weapons offenses, criminal association and incitement to violate laws. Hundreds of police and troops raided protest encampments on Thursday and arrested more than 240 people.
