CONWAY, S.C. (AP) — Coastal Carolina University trustees have voted to raise tuition about 3 percent.
Trustees say they have been able to avoid raising in-state tuition for two years, but had to raise more money to stay competitive with other schools.
Coastal Carolina University will also raise technology fees and room and board rates starting in the fall.
The university says in-state undergraduate tuition will increase by 2.9 percent, or an additional $140 per semester starting this fall. Out-of-state undergraduate tuition will increase by nearly 3 percent, or an extra $335 per semester.
The university is also changing its meal plans, so students can either pay more for an unlimited plan or a plan, or less than the current plan for an option that limits on the number of meals.
