(KSL News) -- The luxury of leasing cars can cause headaches when drivers want to get out of their lease agreements. But a growing trend offers a new option: Swapping out.

Many drivers prefer leasing, especially because purchase payments just can't match lease rates. But getting out of a lease can be tough. So many drivers are turning to the web to swap leases online. Dozens of internet companies post the terms of your agreement, and sell to buyers online.

Industry experts say leasing companies are warming up to the idea.

Sergio Stiberman, Leasetrader.com: "A few years ago, they refused, and now they're all about it. Now they see the benefit if keeping customers happy."

The leasing industry is quick to remind you that when you assume a lease, you become responsible for fees and penalties for any excess mileage or wear and tear, even if it was done before you took possession.
