MURRAY, Ky. (AP) — Five students will receive Murray State University's first doctorates to be granted since the university was founded almost 92 years ago.

The five will receive doctor of nursing practice degrees during the 2014 graduation ceremony Saturday.

The university says all five took coursework online because they were already master's prepared and are advanced-practice nurses. Three are certified nurse anesthetists, one is a family nurse practitioner who owns her practice and one is a clinical nurse specialist who teaches.

Murray's board of regents approved the doctor of nursing practice program in the nursing school in 2010.
