BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A judge has approved a Boise woman's adoption of two sons. Darcy Simpson won an Idaho Supreme Court decision in February that said second-parent adoptions by gay couples are legal despite the state's ban on same-sex marriage. Simpson's partner, Rene, is the birth mother of one boy and the original adoptive parent of the second.
CROUCH, Idaho (AP) — A 47-year-old man has been reported missing in Boise County. Authorities say the man was last seen by friends Friday going to fill up his canteen at the Payette River at Skinny Dipper Hot Springs. When he didn't return, the friends went looking for him and then contacted the Boise County Sheriff's Office, which initiated a search and rescue operation.
BURLEY, Idaho (AP) — This is a busy time of year for Idaho farmers who are putting in crops and setting up irrigation systems. Delays in water delivery, broken pipes and clogged culverts can take a while to resolve. Farmers are saying that weather and planting conditions have been fantastic so far this season. Corn and beets are in the ground and farmers say that things have been smooth so far.
CHALLIS, Idaho (AP) — Small earthquakes occurred yesterday morning in remote areas of central Idaho and western Montana. The U.S. Geological Survey says a 3.8-magnitude earthquake occurred about seven miles northwest of Challis. In western Montana, a 2.5 earthquake was measured about 20 miles northeast of Thompson Falls.
