MONTEREY, Calif., Jun 6, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Dancer, actress and producer Phyllis Lycett has died from complications of a hip fracture in Monterey, Calif., at age 75.
The Indian-born star of stage, film and TV died May 9, Daily Variety reported Tuesday.
Lycett started her career with small film parts in England before traveling to France where she danced at the famed Lido de Paris as a British Bluebell Girl.
In New York, she worked as an on-camera model and stand-in for star Arlene Frances as well as s producer for Goodson-Todman productions, Variety said.
She founded New York's AMAS Repertory Theatre and counted among her stage credits "Phil & Phyllis at the World's Fair," "Phil & Phyllis on Broadway" and "Faust." She also produced Philip Kroopf's one-man show "Meet Charles Dickens" at Carnegie Hall and on tour.
She served as John Mitchell's executive assistant during his tenure as president of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and was herself president of American Women in Radio & Television and the Hollywood Women's Press Club.
She is survived by her husband, jazz musician Eugene Wright.
