SEVEN DEAD BABIES
Utah woman accused of killing 6 babies charged
PROVO, Utah (AP) — Prosecutors have filed six first-degree murder charges against a woman accused of killing six babies after giving birth to them, and keeping their bodies in boxes in her Pleasant Grove garage.
The charges were filed Monday morning shortly before 39-year-old Megan Huntsman appeared in court for the second time. She was informed of the charges during the brief hearing.
Prosecutors say Huntsman is the only suspect in the deaths of the babies. They say a seventh dead infant found in the garage appears to have been stillborn.
Investigators believe Huntsman's estranged husband, Darren West, is the babies' father, though they are awaiting DNA results to confirm that. West is not a suspect.
Huntsman is being held on $6 million bail.
Authorities say they think they know her motive, but they have declined to reveal it publicly.

(Information in the following story is from: KSL-TV, http://www.ksl.com/)
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Utah Highway Patrol says nasty weather could be to blame for two fatal accidents in the Salt Lake Valley.
The first of the crashes claimed the life of a man whose car slid into the back of a tractor-trailer that was parked horizontally near 700 South and 500 West about 4:30 a.m. Monday.
The patrol says the other one happened on I-215 west near 800 South when a car spun out and crashed into the center median.
KSL-TV reports a second car then lost control and hit the first car, killing the driver of the first car.
The patrol says a combination of snow, rain and light slush probably played a role in about a half-dozen accidents in the valley between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m.

LOGAN RIVER-PICKUP CRASH
Charges pending in pickup crash into Logan River
(Information in the following story is from: The Herald Journal, http://www.hjnews.com)
LOGAN, Utah (AP) — The Utah Highway Patrol says charges are pending against a 27-year-old Idaho man who was seriously injured when he crashed his pickup into the Logan River about 15 miles northeast of Logan.
The patrol says Casey Sims of Bear Lake County appeared to be under the influence of alcohol when he missed a curve just south of Temple Fork and drove over the embankment Saturday afternoon.
State public safety spokesman Joe Dougherty says Sims was ejected about half way across the river.
He was transported to Logan Regional Hospital and later flown to Ogden.
The (Logan) Herald Journal reports a fatal accident at roughly the same spot claimed the life of a 90-year-old Tremonton man in November when he hit a patch of ice and plunged into the river.
