BLACKFOOT, Idaho (AP) — A popular southeastern Idaho science teacher will keep her job but is being placed on probation. The Snake River School District Board of Trustees determined that Elaine Asmus didn't violate harassment and bullying policies. Asmus says she's happy and thankful to remain in the school district.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A 46-year-old Nampa man has been sentenced to nine months in prison for stealing nearly 10,000 pounds of sandstone from Bureau of Land Management lands. Brian Kirkpatrick was sentenced yesterday in U.S. District Court in Boise. Prosecutors say Kirkpatrick started stealing the sandstone in November 2012 and selling it commercially for landscape projects.
GOODING, Idaho (AP) — The Idaho Rodeo Hall of Fame is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever stole two life-sized, wooden longhorn steers. The Times-News reports the wooden longhorns disappeared earlier this week while on display on Main Street in Gooding in south-central Idaho.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A 44-year-old Meridian man who pleaded guilty to operating an illegal gambling business has been sentenced in U.S. District Court in Boise. Prosecutors say Kings Santy was sentenced to two years of probation, a $3,000 fine, three months of home detention, and 100 hours of community service. Prosecutors say Santy ran two illegal gambling businesses for seven years, one in Boise and the other in Nampa.
