Holy Week is always a busy time for Associated Press photographers around Latin America. With sumptuous images from Mexico to Argentina, our photo staff once again recorded the religious season, with all its local idiosyncrasies.

But they didn't limit their coverage to Holy Week observances.

This week's coverage also included everything from reaction to the death of literary luminary Gabriel Garcia Marquez to earthquakes in Mexico City and Nicaragua that caused limited damage.

AP photographers also documented the aftermath of forest fires in Chile that engulfed one of the country's most beautiful cities, a white tiger trying to protect her new cubs from the prying eyes of the press, and Uruguayan gauchos demonstrating their horse riding skills. Venezuela, meanwhile, continued to be rocked by anti-government protests and we took a look at Mexico's pampered dogs, which even get their own private birthday parties.
