LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas police believe an arson fire at an apartment is linked to an earlier stabbing. KSNV-TV reports police believe the suspect in the arson fire was stabbed in the stomach and leg during an earlier fight with his girlfriend. The man has been hospitalized and police are looking for the girlfriend, who fled the scene.

HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) — A popular Las Vegas-area tapas restaurant is closing one of its three locations after receiving a bad evaluation from health inspectors. Owners John and Tabitha Simmons are closing the Firefly location on Eastern Avenue in Henderson. The restaurant received 38 demerits and a 'C' grade during a recent health inspection.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — A University of Nevada, Reno student who was homeless during part of her time attending high school in North Las Vegas has been named the winner of a prestigious national scholarship worth $30,000. Ivon Padilla-Rodriguez is one of only about 60 students in the country who will receive the Harry S Truman Scholarship.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — The Hot August Nights Foundation is contributing $100,000 to the Boys & Girls Club of the Truckee Meadows to help support a new youth facility. Hot August Nights executive director Tony Marini says it is the single largest donation ever made by the charitable arm of the long-running classic car and music festival.
