LONG BEACH, Miss. (AP) — The number of students getting a master's degree from the University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Park campus in Long Beach has reached an all-time high.

During the spring 2014 semester, 361 students were earning a master's degree -- a record high for the Gulf Park campus.

The Gulf Park campus offers 11 master's degree programs, and computer science is the largest of those with 113 students.

Greg Carter, interim associate dean for the College of Science and Technology on the Coast, tells The Sun Herald (http://bit.ly/1mbIHX4 ) in today's world, people are relying on computers to do everything from their income taxes to listen to music.

Of the 11 master's degrees available at Gulf Park, five of them are online programs.
