WASHINGTON (AP) — The Indiana Pacers have wrapped up the top seed in the NBA's Eastern Conference playoffs with help from Washington as the Wizards downed Miami 114-93. Trevor Ariza (ah-REE'-zuh) scored 25 points for the Wizards, who shot 59 percent and made 14 3-pointers. Michael Beasley scored 18 points while the Heat rested LeBron James and Chris Bosh.
PHOENIX (AP) — Memphis locked up the final Western Conference playoff berth as Zach Randolph finished with 32 points and nine rebounds in the Grizzlies' 97-91 win at Phoenix. Mike Miller had 21 points off the bench for the Grizzlies, who will face the Spurs in the opening round.
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Lance Lynn and the St. Louis Cardinals have ended the Milwaukee Brewers' nine-game winning streak. Lynn allowed just three hits while striking out 11 over seven innings of the Cardinals' 4-0 shutout of the Brewers. Jhonny Peralta (JAH'-nee peh-RAHL'-tah) put the Redbirds ahead with a solo homer in the second before Jon Jay's three-run blast capped the scoring in the sixth.
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Jabari Parker says he plans to "set up an appointment" with Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski (shuh-SHEHF'-skee) when he returns to Durham, N.C., on Tuesday and will decide Wednesday whether to declare for the NBA draft or return to college for his sophomore year. Parker was in Oklahoma City to accept the Wayman Tisdale Award as college basketball's top freshman. He was the highest-scoring freshman in Duke history (19.1 per game) and is the first freshman to lead the Blue Devils in scoring and rebounding.
UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) — Chiney Ogwumike (chi-NAY' oh-GWOOM'-ih-kay) has been selected by the Connecticut Sun with the first overall pick in Monday's WNBA draft. Ogwumike joined her sister Nneka, drafted by Los Angeles in 2012, as the only siblings to be chosen first in the WNBA. Peyton and Eli Manning are the only other siblings to be taken No. 1 in the history of the four major American pro sports according to STATS.
