EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Michigan State University officials have renewed and expanded an agreement with an agricultural college in Northern Ireland.
The East Lansing school said its College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and Northern Ireland's College of Agriculture Food and Rural Enterprise recently re-signed an endowment and student exchange pact.
University officials said the agreement includes more opportunities for faculty sabbaticals, collaborative research, transfer and exchanges of technical expertise. It also will allow more students to study abroad.
"We are particularly interested in exploring possibilities for our Institute of Agricultural Technology students to study with CAFRE," Kelly Millenbah, associate dean and director of academic and student affairs in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, said in a statement.
The schools have had an agreement for 20 years. More than 100 students have benefited from this exchange program to date, Millenbah said.
"Both universities have strong agriculture programs and our students are successful," Millenbah said.
