BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — Gray wolves in the U.S. Northern Rockies are showing resilience as states adopt aggressive tactics to drive down their numbers. State and federal agencies show a minimum of 1,691 wolves roamed the six-state region at the end of 2013. Idaho put government wildlife agents in helicopters to shoot packs that were preying on big game herds. Wildlife advocates warn the population could crash, but that hasn't happened.

YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. (AP) — Yellowstone National Park is fighting rumors that running bison seen in a YouTube video are fleeing a possible explosion of the park's supervolcano. The video was posted on March 20, 10 days before a magnitude-4.8 earthquake hit. Park spokesman Dan Hottle tells the Jackson Hole Daily that they are running toward the park's interior and the volcano.

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) — State wildlife officials plan to spend up to $100,000 during the next two years poisoning ravens in an attempt to boost sage grouse populations. Idaho Fish and Game wants to kill 4,000 ravens with poisoned chicken eggs. Biologist Ann Moser says the poison only kills birds of the corvid family, which includes crows, ravens and magpies.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A California woman is in custody after police in Boise say they found 40 pounds of marijuana and a gram of methamphetamine on a passenger bus. Fifty-four-year-old Lori Lovely is being held on suspicion of trafficking in marijuana and possession of a controlled substance. Police also found about a pound of marijuana wax that can be smoked using e-cigarettes.
