NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) — A judge in North Las Vegas ruled that a 33-year-old Nellis Air Force Base technical sergeant should stand trial on a murder charge in Nevada state court in the slaying of his wife.

Justice of the Peace Natalie Tyrrell found enough evidence to bind the case against Rickey Lee Massey Jr. over for trial in Clark County District Court.

Massey's public defender, Rafael Nones, says his client will plead not guilty at his arraignment April 17.

Massey is accused of killing 34-year-old Theresa Rivera during a family argument late Jan. 16.

The coroner found that Rivera died of asphyxia.

Police say Massey told them he was angry that his wife wanted a divorce after being married less than a year.

Massey deployed four times during his 13-year Air Force career.
