PERTH, Australia (AP) — Search operations for Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 have been suspended for the day due to bad weather. The Australian Maritime Safety Authority says all planes that headed for the search area in the southern Indian Ocean Thursday are now returning to Perth and ships are leaving too. Heavy rains, strong winds, low clouds and reduced visibility are expected in the search zone.

DARRINGTON, Wash. (AP) — The official death toll from the mudslide in Washington state remains at 16. Eight additional bodies have been located but not recovered. The Snohomish (snoh-HOH'-mish) County emergency management director says the number of people unaccounted has been reduced to 90. In addition there are 35 other people who may or may not have been in the area at the time of the slide.

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — Ukraine is predicting that the U.N. General Assembly will adopt a resolution Thursday reaffirming the country's territorial integrity and calling the referendum that led to Crimea's annexation by Russia illegal. Russia has mounted a campaign against the resolution, claiming the dispute is an east-west issue. But Ukraine's U.N. Ambassador says Russia violated the U.N. Charter and Ukraine is not a member of any bloc.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A new poll finds severe drought is making Californians anxious about dwindling water supplies, and they're making an effort not to waste a drop. The Public Policy Institute of California survey also found 50 percent of likely voters surveyed say they would vote in favor of a proposal that calls for $11 billion in long-term loans to develop water projects.

NEW YORK (AP) — L'Wren Scott has left her entire estate to longtime boyfriend Mick Jagger. The Daily News says papers filed in Manhattan's Surrogate's Court estimate the value of the 49-year-old designer's personal estate at $9 million. Her main asset was a Manhattan condo worth approximately $8 million. Scott committed suicide on March 17 in New York.
