The first two days of searching haven't turned up anything. The weather has improved for the latest search effort. two ships are also in the area and a third is expected.
SEATTLE (AP) — The National Transportation Safety Board says surveillance video suggests things may have gone wrong right at takeoff for a Seattle news helicopter that crashed, killing two men on board and seriously burning a man on the ground. The NTSB preliminary report says the video shows the helicopter began rotating at takeoff before it pitched forward into the fiery crash.
POINT PLEASANT BEACH, N.J. (AP) — A man who has been staying in temporary accommodations since losing his home to Superstorm Sandy is homeless again, but it could have been worse. Joe Frystock woke to go to the bathroom and found his Point Pleasant Beach motel ablaze. He fled, pounding on doors along the way. Four people died in the raging fire.
NEW YORK (AP) — A public relations firm that focuses on the fashion and beauty industries is denying reports that fashion designer L'Wren (luh-REN') Scott's company was on the verge of shutting down. The 49-year-old longtime girlfriend of Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger was found dead in her Manhattan apartment Monday. Authorities say she committed suicide.
CORCORAN, Calif. (AP) — The final chapter has been written in the murder case inspired two books and the Lifetime miniseries, "Love, Lies and Murder." The mastermind of the 1985 plot has died in a central California prison. A spokesman for California State Prison, Corcoran said David Brown died of natural causes in a prison hospital Thursday. He was 61.
